1.About these terms
Parish Bells is provided by Ceegees Software Solutions Pvt Ltd, whose registered address is [REGISTERED ADDRESS] ("we", "us"). These terms apply to the Parish Bells website, the Parish Bells app for Android and iOS, and everything they connect to (together, "the service").
By using the service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you use it on behalf of a parish, you agree for the parish and confirm that you may do so.
A "parish" is a church community that keeps its records in Parish Bells. A "member" is anybody the parish lets in: an office holder, a parishioner, a family, or somebody from outside the parish, such as an auditor, given access for a time.
2.Who may use Parish Bells
- A parish, through somebody with authority to act for it, such as the parish priest or a person the parish appoints.
- People the parish invites, by email, with a six-digit code.
- People who create their own account and ask a parish to take their family in. They see nothing of the parish until its office approves the request.
An account is for one adult (18 or over). A child’s details are kept in their family’s record, by a parent or by the parish office, not in an account of their own.
The parish decides who is let in and what each person may do. We do not decide who belongs to a parish.
3.Your account
- Give your real name and an email address you use. Codes to confirm your address, reset your password and accept an invitation are sent there.
- Keep your password to yourself. If somebody else may know it, change it: changing it signs you out everywhere else.
- If your role keeps the parish’s money or runs the parish, you will be asked for a second factor from an authenticator app. Keep its recovery codes safe.
- Tell the parish office, or us, at once if you think somebody else has used your account.
4.What the parish is responsible for
The records a parish keeps in Parish Bells are the parish’s. The parish decides what is recorded and why, and is responsible for that under the law that applies to it, including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, under which the parish is the Data Fiduciary for its records. In particular, the parish:
- has a lawful reason to record each person, and tells its members what it keeps and why;
- obtains the consent of a parent or lawful guardian before it records a child (anybody under 18), or relies on an exemption the law gives it;
- keeps its records accurate, and corrects them when somebody asks with good reason;
- gives each role only the access that person needs, gives somebody from outside the parish, such as an auditor, access only for as long as they need it, and takes access away when somebody leaves an office;
- answers its members’ requests to see, correct or erase what it holds about them, with our help where it needs it;
- keeps its own copy of anything it must keep by law, using the export Parish Bells provides.
5.What we do with a parish’s records
We keep and process a parish’s records only to provide the service to that parish, on its instructions, as the Privacy Policy describes. We do not sell them, use them for advertising, or show one parish’s records to another.
If somebody asks us for help with their account, a member of our support team may see the service as that person sees it, only with a stated reason and that person’s consent, for at most 30 minutes, and the visit is recorded.
6.Acceptable use
You must not:
- record somebody without a lawful reason, or record what you know to be false;
- use what you see in the parish directory for anything but the parish’s life: not for marketing, canvassing, money-lending or any purpose the person would not expect;
- try to see what your role does not allow, another parish’s records, or another person’s account;
- upload anything unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or that infringes somebody’s rights, including photographs of people who have asked not to be shown;
- probe, scan or test the service’s security, overload it, or get round its limits, except with our written permission;
- copy, resell or reverse-engineer the service, or use it to build a competing one.
We may remove content, or suspend an account, that breaks these rules, and will tell the parish when we do.
7.Payments and dues
Parish Bells records money; it does not move it. A family pays the parish directly, from its own UPI app, and reports the payment in Parish Bells with its reference number (UTR) or a screenshot. The parish’s treasurer confirms it against the parish’s bank account before it enters the books.
No card, bank account or UPI credentials pass through Parish Bells, and we are not a party to any payment between a family and its parish. A question about a payment, a due or a receipt is for the parish office.
Receipts, the books and the GST summary are records the parish keeps for itself. They are not tax, legal or accounting advice; the parish remains responsible for its own returns.
What a parish pays us for the service, if anything, is agreed with that parish separately: [FEES AND PLAN TERMS].
8.Your content, and ours
The parish owns its records, and you own what you upload. You give us the permission we need to store, copy and show them to the people the parish allows, only to provide the service.
The service itself, its software, design and name, are ours or our licensors’. These terms give you the right to use them, and nothing more.
If you send us a suggestion, we may use it without owing you anything for it.
9.Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep Parish Bells available and its records safe, but we do not promise that it will always be available or free of errors. It may be unavailable while it is maintained or upgraded, or for reasons outside our control.
We may change, add or remove features. If a change takes away something a parish relies on, we will tell the parish beforehand where we reasonably can.
The phone app may need to be updated to keep working.
10.Leaving, and ending the service
A parish may stop using Parish Bells at any time. Before it does, it can export its records: members, families, the registers, the books and more, as spreadsheet files.
A member may ask the parish office to end their access at any time, and may ask the parish, or us, to close their account.
We may suspend or end an account, or a parish’s use of the service, if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken, if the law requires it, or if we stop providing the service. Except where the law or an emergency prevents it, we will give the parish notice and time to export its records.
After a parish leaves, we keep its records for [RETENTION PERIOD AFTER TERMINATION] so that it can change its mind or ask for a copy, and then delete them, except what the law requires us to keep.
11.Liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we give no warranty that it will meet a particular need, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data that the parish could have exported, or loss caused by somebody the parish let in.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to a parish for anything arising from the service in any twelve months is limited to [LIABILITY CAP].
Nothing in these terms limits a liability that cannot be limited by law.
A parish is responsible for the records it keeps and for the people it lets in, and will compensate us for a claim brought against us because of them, as far as the law allows.
12.Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at [GOVERNING LAW / JURISDICTION CITY] have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
Before going to court, please write to us: most problems are solved faster that way.
13.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell parishes before it takes effect, and show the date it takes effect at the top of this page. Using the service after that date means accepting the new terms.
