An office carries a role: a committee’s term
Access follows the office, not the person. A committee carries access while it is active; the old one can run beside the new until the office deactivates it, and then its access ends.
Step by step
Step 1: Create the next committee
Parish officeon Committee
The office creates the new committee. It starts planned, so creating it ends nothing; the diocese’s appointments, such as the vicar, can be copied onto it.
What the others see: The committee in office carries on as it is.
Step 2: Add its office bearers
Parish officeon Committee
The office adds members to its offices, such as Treasurer. “Access this office carries” is filled in from the position, and can be changed or set to none.
What the others see: Nobody on a planned committee has its access yet, and nobody is invited yet.
Step 3: Provision it
Parish officeon Committee
When it takes office, the office provisions it. Its office bearers gain their access, those without a login are invited, and the Secretary who provisions it joins it.
What the others see: Both committees are active for as long as the parish needs: the old one is not ended by its end date passing.
Step 4: The new office bearer signs in
Treasureron Accept the invitation
They accept the invitation, and find the menu their office carries: for a Treasurer, Finance.
What the others see: The committee page shows each office’s access, and “No sign-in yet” for anybody still to accept.
Step 5: Deactivate the old committee
Parish officeon Committee
When the handing over is done, the office deactivates the old committee. The dialog says first who loses access and who keeps it through the new one.
What the others see: The old committee’s office-carried access ends at once; standing roles such as the Auditor’s are untouched. If any part fails, nothing changes.
How it ends
Every office bearer holding the access of their office on an active committee and no more, and each old committee kept in the parish’s history.
